Friday morning / Day 6: This morning they climbed 400 meters up and out of ‘Valley of Science’ that marks the end of the Axel Heiberg Glacier. It started pretty cold, with an icing, katabatic gust straight in their faces. But later in the day it cleared and the wind died for some fantastic hours. They could fully take in the first victory of being at the Plateau and having concurred the might of Axel Heiberg in impressive 5 days in far from easy snow. But the weather for the coming days is not so good, with a waried mix of wind, snow, some sun and white-out. This forced them to drop the planned side trip up Mount Nansen. Sad. But probably a very good move. Where they are now they have to think big which is getting to the Geographical South Pole safe, sound and with as much energy left as possible. For there awaits another 1160km for them to have completed a full Antarctic crossing! This trip is not for he fainthearted.
