On Ice

Antarctica

Thick Cloud Cover

Foundation Glacier Antarctica

Day 4, Tuesday 27th Nov: Then clouds came in and the day became total different. He did not have whiteout, but the low clouds gave very poor definition and he struggled with visibility and balance at times.
With the wind having picked up yesterday, it all of a sudden became quite chilly. – That is a part of earth where the Ozone layer is pretty thin, so the radiating is enormous and with direct sunlight does marvels to you body comfort.
The surface is still soft, but he upended his work hour to 6 full hours and duly did 16,45km - and was quite happy with that.
The sledge of course, feels still very heavy. He does not take any chances and cleans the runners every morning plus warming up as a precaution not to strain anything as he throw himself at the harness and starts the day.
